Subcutaneous hemangioma on the knee

Introduction: Subcutaneous hemangiomas are rare, and various diagnostic tests are required for appropriate therapeutic management. Histological examination allows for their classification and differentiation from a tumor.
Objective: To describe subcutaneous hemangioma of the knee to facilitate diagnosis and treatment.
Case report: A 36-year-old male patient presented for consultation due to an enlarged right knee. Physical examination revealed a soft, non-adherent tumor on the anterior aspect of the knee. X-rays, Doppler ultrasound, and CT angiography suggested a low-flow vascular malformation. Surgical exploration with tumor excision was performed. Pathological analysis of the specimen revealed a simple venous hemangioma.
Conclusions: Low-flow vascular malformations often go undetected in clinical practice. They require imaging for therapeutic management and surgical treatment to alleviate symptoms.
