Introduction: Bone pelvic sarcomas constitute a very small subgroup within bone tumor nosology. Chondrosarcoma is frequent from the fourth decade of life, it is the second most frequent bone neoplasm of malignant primary bone tumors and its pelvic location constitutes a real challenge for acting surgeons. Objective: To report a case of pelvic chondrosarcoma at an early age.
Case report: A 20-year-old female patient with health history who comes to the clinic due to difficulty at walking, increased volume in the right hip and associated pain. After the corresponding radiological studies, she underwent surgery with a presumptive diagnosis of chondrosarcoma, corroborated a posteriori by histopathology.
Conclusions: Pelvic chondrosarcoma is a lesion with difficult surgical approach. Its prognosis depends on the possibility of wide exeresis and the histological grade of the tumor. For curative treatment, extensive interventions are usually required, mostly mutilating. The poor response to radiotherapy and chemotherapy make surgery the fundamental weapon for resolution.
