Abstract

Introduction: Pelvic fractures in the pediatric population are rare, representing up to 3 % of traumas in orthopedics.

Objective: To describe a special repair technique in a pediatric case of pelvic fracture.

Case report: The patient was admitted due to a traffic accident. The patient presented with pelvic instability and pain on palpation. Radiological images confirmed an unstable pelvic fracture. Damage was controlled with external brace fixation, open reduction plus internal fixation, and Pfannenstiel-type approach. This subject maintained adequate clinical evolution.

Conclusions: Pelvic fractures require surgical intervention in most cases, but require more studies.
