Importance of the podogram in orthopedic practice
Keywords:
podogram, types of feet, clinical classification, measurement methods.Abstract
Introduction: The podogram is a support tool in the specialty of orthopedics. It is used for the diagnosis and monitoring of various foot conditions.
Objective: To update on the different measurements of a podogram.
Methods: The information was analyzed during January 2023 and the following words were used: footprint, foot type, clinical classification and measurement methods. Six two articles were reviewed from PubMed, Hinari, SciELO and Medline databases, using the EndNote search manager and reference manager. The words selected for the search were taken from MeSH (Medical Subject Headings).
Development: A simple method for performing the podogram in Cuban conditions was described. Different measurements and the interpretation of the results were analyzed.
Conclusions: The podogram should be rescued in orthopedic practice because it is very useful in the diagnosis, treatment and evolution of various foot conditions.
