Fragilidad en ortopedia y comanejo de fracturas

Resumen

Introducción: Los cuidados de ortogeriatría han evolucionado en los últimos 15 años. Se han reconocido los resultados insatisfactorios en estudios de cohortes de pacientes geriátricos con traumatismos ortopédicos por fragilidad.

Objetivo: Explicar el uso de la escala de fragilidad clínica para identificar los pacientes con mayor necesidad de atención, teniendo en cuenta los recursos sanitarios actuales y la fragilidad geriátrica sobre la edad.

Métodos: Se buscaron en PubMed las publicaciones en inglés de 2010-2020 a partir de los términos: “pacientes ortopédicos geriátricos”, “pacientes geriátricos y fragilidad” y “fragilidad en ortogeriatría”.

Conclusiones: El envejecimiento poblacional obliga a los hospitales a brindar atención de alta calidad a los adultos mayores. La fragilidad constituye un mejor indicador de las necesidades de atención especializada que la edad.
