Plicatura medial asistida por artroscopia en pacientes pediátricos con inestabilidad patelofemoral

Resumen

Introducción: La inestabilidad patelofemoral afecta la rodilla de pacientes adolescentes con relativa frecuencia. La plicatura del retináculo medial es una de las modalidades de tratamiento quirúrgico que se utiliza por la vía artroscópica.

Objetivo: Actualizar lo relacionado con las indicaciones, las contraindicaciones, los detalles técnicos y los resultados de la plicatura medial por la vía artroscópica.

Métodos: El análisis de la información se realizó en 61 días y se emplearon las siguientes palabras: patellofemoral instability AND pediatric, patellofemoral instability and skeletal immature patients, patellofemoral instability AND medial reefing, patellofemoral instability AND medial plication, medial reefing OR medial plication. Se revisaron 157 artículos de las bases de datos PubMed, Hinari, SciELO y Medline, mediante el gestor de búsqueda y administrador de referencias EndNote.

Desarrollo: Se refirieron las indicaciones y contraindicaciones del procedimiento quirúrgico. Se describió la técnica por pasos y se ofrecieron tres variantes para la plicatura del retináculo medial. Se mencionaron los resultados de algunos investigadores con este procedimiento.

Conclusiones: La plicatura del retináculo medial, asistida por la vía artroscópica, constituye una modalidad muy útil en enfermos con inestabilidad patelofemoral y tiene en cuenta las características de los pacientes pediátricos.
